Your Question

Could u pls help me get closer to God and maybe help me understand what im doing wrong. sorry its long. ive asked longer before tho…

so this isnt exactly a question but i feel super distant from God right now. i pray almost everyday, before i go to school and at night. i even sometimes randomly pray, i have my bible on my study table, and usually read before i study too. yet i feel so distant from him idk for some reason it feels as though he doesnt want me getting close. im not sure what im doing wrong. i have to admit, i do sin but not alot. even if its just little stuff, i do sin. that could be the reason. but even when i dont sin at all. like not at all. i stil feel that distance. and everytime i have a conversation with him, it feels like hes just listening, and nothing more. i feel kinda empty when i talk to him, like i feel a void or smth. im not sure what im doing wrong. i try to acknowledge him throughout the day. i also had alot of doubts about God, i asked almost all of them last time but because it feels like God isnt answering me, i still feel those doubts but at the same time i do believe in him.

Answer from Uncle Philly

First of all, I want to say I’m so proud of you for being honest about how you’re feeling. It’s not always easy to open up about feeling distant from God, but the fact that you’re sharing this shows that you do care about your relationship with Him—and that’s so important.

It’s okay to feel this way sometimes. Many people who love God deeply go through seasons where they feel distant from Him. But here’s the truth: God has not left you. He hasn’t stopped loving you, and He’s not ignoring you

As our opponent (Satan) will always try to put doubt in us, we should remember few things;

01. God’s love for you is not based on how "PERFECT" you are!!

God’s Love and Grace Are Constant (Lamentations 3:21-23) Jesus died on the cross to take away your sins, once and for all. So even when you stumble, His love for you doesn’t change.

02. Yes, Sin Can Hinder Our Relationship with God (Isaiah 59:2)

While sin doesn’t make God stop loving you, it can affect your ability to feel close to Him. Think of it like this: if you’re in a relationship with someone and there’s something unresolved between you, it might feel awkward or distant—not because the relationship is over, but because there’s something that needs to be addressed.

03. God Draws Near to the Humble

James 4:8 says, “Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” This verse reminds us that when we take steps to turn from sin and draw near to God, He will always meet us where we are.

What you should do from your side?

01. Confess your sins

It’s okay to admit to God when you mess up, even if it feels like “a small sin”. He already knows and confession helps keep your heart clean and open to Him. And mind to not repeat and remain in that same sin

02. Focus on Grace, Not Guilt

Don’t let guilt overwhelm you. Instead, focus on God’s grace. He’s not angry with you—He’s ready to forgive and restore you.

03. Pray for Strength

Ask God to help you resist temptation and grow closer to Him. He’s not expecting you to be perfect; He’s inviting you to rely on His strength

Feeling distant from God is something many people go through, and it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It could be a season God is using to strengthen your faith and dependence on Him, even when it doesn’t feel like it.

You know what?  In Psalm 34:18 King David is declaring like, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

So, whenever you feel distant, remember God is near to you, especially in moments of doubt or sadness. Your longing for Him is evidence that He is already working in your heart.

In Hebrew 11:6, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

This verse reminds us that seeking God, even when we feel distant, is an act of faith that pleases Him. Trust that He is there, even if you can’t feel Him

Jeremiah 29:13 says  “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

God promises that if we seek Him earnestly, we will find Him. Even if it feels slow or unclear, He is drawing you closer through the process.

and in Isaiah 41:10 God promises  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Even in moments when it feels like God is silent, He’s holding you up and walking with you through every challenge.

GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU IS NOT BASED ON HOW “PERFECT” YOU ARE, BUT ON HIS GRACE AND MERCY.
